Welcome to Surviving Jeicho. I will admit it, I am not exactly the queen of the computer, but I really wanted a place where I could share my thoughts, accomplishments and struggles of parenthood. I used to love to write, and it is still one of my aspirations to be published someday, and I thought I would give blogging a chance. Who knows who will wind up reading the ramblings of a busy mother, but maybe just getting the thoughts out of my head will be enough for me personally.
Let me introduce myself, spill the beans a little. I am almost 28. I am a stay at home, home-schooling mom to three beautiful children, ages 7, 5, and 3. I also have three wonderful step-children, ages 19, 16, and 12, and a miracle of a step-grandson, 2. I love my hard-working husband dearly. We have a dog, a cat, and a very lovable guinea pig.
We also have a small business making concrete counter tops, but due to the recession we haven't had much work recently. I love making the counter tops, getting my hands dirty, being creative. And well until you know me better I guess I should give you a clue that I am not a lace and ribbons, two hours on makeup and hair, fancy purses and expensive shoes type of girl. Just Plain Jane! And that is just fine with me!
What else should I mention.... Oh! Why is the name of my blog Surviving Jericho? Good question! I started writing about my misadventures with my youngest son, Jericho, on Facebook, and called them Surviving Jericho, because there have been days where I wondered if I would survive the day filled with his crazy antics. So far I have. He is only 3, but has already accomplished so much in the "let"s see what I can do today to make Mommy crazy!" department. He his without a doubt a challenge; all my children are, in their own different ways, and they all teach me something new everyday!
I am not sure where this blog will go... I am a bit ADD, and any one who knows me knows this as a fact. I plan on keeping you up to date on what works for us with homeschooling and what doesn't. I would also like to put in little recipes once in a while. But mostly, I plan on humoring you with the craziness my busy little brood creates on a daily basis, whether it be shampooed carpets (Jericho, with Head and Shoulders!) or Mommy Shortleg spiders (Maesyn, my 5 year old asked if they were nice after telling her that Daddy Longlegs were nice). My goal is to let other mothers, and daddys too, know that there are families out there just like theirs, and to keep their heads up when they have had a day where the toilet is overflowing because someone stuffed a Little People zebra down the toilet and the water valve gets stuck and can't get the water to stop...... yes around here there are many days like these, you are not alone.
So until next time, love your family like there is no tomorrow, and god bless you!
